South Devon

I took this picture this evening around 8:45. My husband was born and bred here so we had to go for a walk on the nearby cliffs which are only a few minutes walk from where we are staying.
Lovely land scaspe or is it a sea scape? Anyway, this is lovely!

@30pics4jackiesdiamond Thanks Jackie. It's a seascape. My husband's ancestors have lived here since 1427. He and his brother have traced their family tree back to this date.

Very nice Liz, is it the Salcombe area? My Dad could be on your family tree:
James Martin Lapthorn born Plymouth 1908.

@kyfto just asked Roger, my husband, and he says that there are no Plymouth Lapthorns on the immediate tree.

That doesn't mean we are not related some way back John!

This is Thurlestone looking south towards Hope Cove. A Spanish ship was washed ashore near Hope Cove. I recall one of my junior school teachers in Salcombe bringing in a Spanish "piece of eight". This was a hospital ship from the Spanish Armada of 1588.

Fabulous view and brings back memories of many happy holidays when the children were young. I can almost see the cottage we stayed in one year.
