I have a shaggy old Apothocary rose bush in the corner of my garden which harbours scores of little sparrows. At first glance you wouldn't notice them there, with their soft colours camoflaged amid the grey wood of the bush, until something disturbs them and they rise up together, in a swirl of grey and brown feathers.
