@shepherdmanswife Yes, I had an older camera converted to take near infrared pictures. It can produce some odd effects and very different processing required, compared to regular photos. I'm still feeling my way around.
@shepherdmanswife I'm in Canada and I sent mine to the US to have it done. It didn't take too long but I did get hit up for tax or duty or something on it's return. I had it done by a company called Kolarivision. They have a helpful website with quite a bit of info about things to consider before choosing a camera to convert, since some work better than others.
@frankhymus Yes, I had an older NEX camera converted about a month ago. I've been having quite a bit of fun, but I admit processing to pull out the false colour is a very hit and miss operation for me still, as is picking subjects. For every picture I get that I am happy with, there are many more that just don't make the grade.
@gardencat :) Keep it up! I am an avid IR person with my converted Nikon D3100, although I haven't shot much lately with it. A few are scattered throughout my projects.
Thanks to @frankhymus, I am seeing this very excellent shot for the first time. A wonderful effect, combined with the curves of the water and the reflections. Very cool shot.
