This is William Goldwair, my newest friend. I noticed him sitting alone at McDonald’s this morning, when I stopped in for a sandwich and coffee. He was nattily dressed, quiet, and seemed to have a strength about him. I walked right up to him with my to go order and asked him if he minded my sitting and talking with him for a few. He said “sure, go ahead”! I spent the next 50 minutes talking with him, asked and received his permission for this and a few other pics, which he initially said he felt a little uncomfortable with. As I was leaving, he asked to see the pics I took and he REALLY liked them, asked if he could get some copies to give to his kids. I then kissed him, saying “oh NOW you want some prints, ‘cause you’re looking good, right?! We both screamed with laughter at that. I got his phone number, gave him my card and promised to get him some prints, if he promised to have coffee with me again. Deal done.
What a lovely story, and photo. We were just talking about approaching people for photographs in my camera club group. Perfect of example of why you should do it.
I've never kissed one of my strangers portrait victims. Here in UK I'd probably be reported for abuse, if not immediately definitely in about 5 years down the line when they feel very aggrieved by the memory.
