Oddball the movie has surpassed all expectations and now the movie is available on dvd. This is inside the tourist information centre (at Flagstaff Hill) and the little girl was so delighted to see the beautiful painting of Oddball and the penguins :) The painting is by a nearby artist, William Ritchie and if I had a spare $6000, I'd buy it!!
Naw ... he is so lovely .. we had a fellow just like him and he was a real character.. he use to sit in the paddock just looking after the cows.. just a real gentle giant.. can't wait for the movie to start here .. I know I will have tears, remembering our Westie..
How lovely Denise - and great for the area I'm guessing. We watched the feature on Sunday Night a few weeks ago & will rent the DVD very soon. Perfect story for a movie.
What a cute photo and love the little girl!! A painting of her looking at the painting would make for an awesome picture also!! Nice POV and lighting!!!
@jamibann@peterlgrave Oddball is a movie base on a true story where a Maremma dog is trained to protect the little penguins on our small off shore island. It was filmed last year and i was an extra in a street scene - I made it for a whole second :) I posted quite a bit about last year and then again when the movie was released in September.
@gilbertwood Thanks Denise.I read that on the ABC report.Ok on being an extra. When i had the operation the surgeon asked me if it was ok to film it, i said OK and then asked him if i was going to be a film star."OH No he said We don,t show your face",My moment of fame ???
Jane @cejaanderson is so right about the Norman Rockwell moment in that little girl's stance! Though not one to watch movies or tv much anymore, "Oddball" sounds like just the story I'd enjoy immensely! Must see if I can find it! And, so like what we've come to know about 365, we'll feel an immediate attachment to the place and the story through knowing you! Thanks for letting us know!
@peterlgrave Oh well, your heart is famous :) @777margo Oh Margo, you were SO close to my home :) @cejaanderson Thanks! I shall have to google Norman Rockwell and have a look at his paintings :) @merrelyn So pleased you have seen it Merrelyn :) @ladymagpie Yep! We're all oddballs down here :) Have bought the tattslotto ticket to buy 2 paintings :) @Weezilou Thanks. yes 365 is such a great place to learn so many new things! Hope you get to see the movie - it is very much a family movie :) @pyrrhula Thanks Ferry. So you have seen the movie in your country? That's terrific :)
I echo Jane's comment. The little girls looks like she should be in the painting herself. I'm not familiar with Oddball......well, I certainly know many oddballs, but one named Oddball sounds like a very interesting subject!
(The show was fabulous)
