Bendigo road trip - 1

There were many kangaroo signs beside the road in many places. Although there were many "road kills" on the side, luckily I didn't encounter one!
A beautiful stretch of road. Here we have deer and so often in the rural areas you will see ones that have been hit on the sides of our roads.

A perfect road for roos.

David hit a roo on the road from Newcastle to Melbourne at Gundagai a few years ago. It was about midnight and during a drought. The roos were close to the road and one decided to hop out in front of him. Luckily he (David) wasn't injured. The roo didn't survive though. David happened to be driving my car at the time and it caused $3500 damage to the car.

Guess that's like our deer crossing signs - like the kangaroo sign.

My daughter lives at Eppalock and the roads round there are rotten with roos at night.

@golftragic Yes, I avoided driving through this area at dawn and dusk!

You would certainly know if you hit one of them! I imagine they would cause a lot of damage to the car & to themselves!

@gilbertwood Of course you did, you're a country girl! Some of them have no sense whatsoever. I was up at my daughter's and doing the school bus run to give her a rest, tootling quietly along a back road, 3pm, full day-light and bang. A small roo had jumped clean into the back corner of my car stupid thing. Fortunately no damage to either that time.

@gilbertwood As you'd know they're not noted for their brain-power.

So sorry to hear about all the dead ones. It happens here with badgers.
