The Wind Wand, New Plymouth, New Zealand

I really struggled today to get a photo that I was happy with, so I've settled for this out of about 7 or 8 potential shots. I'm still not overly happy with it, but it's simple, and mildly interesting (if you're into 30 metre long pieces of pipe with red lights on top that bend in the direction of the wind).
I love it! I'm very partial to Len Lye's work, and will no doubt post a photo of Water Whirler at some stage. Wellington has a similar sculpture, the Zephyrometer. I am thinking you'd have got strange looks while you took this photo, given the angle its at.

@essafel Len Lyes kinetic sculptures are a favourite here to - patiently waiting for the opening of the new Len Lye gallery in town, but we seem to be in the minority locally, which is a shame...might have to make a trip to Wellington to see the Zephyrometer. As for the odd looks...more than likely, I had to call on my years of yoga training to get the right angle!

Yeah, lets bring some culture to proceedings :-) I'm planning to sprinkle in some BMD photos - I found another one on Sunday night while dropping my son at work.
