Solitude by graemestevens

Solitude

When the ever mysterious 'they' said "run to hills", I for one had no idea that there would already be people there. Luckily for me whenever I go 'back country' I go fully equipped with the appropriate implements of mass destruction and, by far my favourite, instruments of a more intimate yet painful manner.
I am happy to report that the house is now empty and the hills are once again a place of solitude.
Sam
Looks like the wild storm on numerous fronts has disappeared! Is that your house?
October 9th, 2014
That is beautiful not at all creepy.
October 9th, 2014
@gigiflower It has, beautiful clear day today but not on the work front...lets just say it's ongoing...about to call management And no, it's not my house, we can't afford something that flash!
@spikez Thanks very much - and I agree, what i wouldn't give for that spot!

Wonderful looking place and a great photograph of it. Fav.
October 9th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens Are you going to take the job regardless?
October 9th, 2014
@gamelee Thanks very much :)
@gigiflower I don't want to but if it's the only option...well...just going to try and get some honesty out of them first
October 9th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens LOL "honesty" - you do work in the corporate world don't you? The word honesty and corporation don't fit in the same sentence together!!!! I knew you would have to take the job........CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
October 9th, 2014
@gigiflower Ummm...no...I'm not taking it until I know for sure there is nothing else for me. So no congratulations yet, and even if I did take it I don't know that congratulations would be deserved. You're right about the corporate world though, I'll give you that much ;)
October 9th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens It's yours........you won't get a choice and you take it! Mark my wordies........!
October 9th, 2014
@gigiflower After the brief conversation I just had...it may not be. That's today anyway. Knowing my luck it will all be different on Monday. I just really don't want it to be mine and have to admit that you were right ;)
October 9th, 2014
Fab shot, Graeme. The reflections on the water are stunning...have you disposed a heavy laden corpse in it?
October 9th, 2014
@davie Thanks very much. As for the corpse, that would be telling. Lets just say I had to wait for the ripples to clear...
October 9th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens LOL shall we have a bet?
October 9th, 2014
cool reflection great work
October 10th, 2014
This is absolutely breathtaking, Graeme. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

Sorry the work stuff is still such a hassle. My fingers (and toes) are still crossed that things work out in your favor, in that regard.
October 10th, 2014
Beautiful reflection - I love the little pop of red from the house
October 10th, 2014
Awesome image, Graeme. Perfectly glass like water.
October 10th, 2014
hope your work situation settles and that the proffered change ends up being a positive thing... gorgeous clarity in this shot, btw!
October 10th, 2014
A wonderful landscape with such clarity!
October 10th, 2014
absolutely beautiful , particularly like the intense blue reflection of the sky in the water got to be a fav
October 10th, 2014
Fantastic shot. What a beautiful landscape. I hope your work situation sorts itself out.
October 10th, 2014
So beautiful Graame!!
October 10th, 2014
What! No ripples in the lake after you threw the bodies in? Absolutely glorious - if I knew where this was, you would have to throw me out too!
October 10th, 2014
....and fav!
October 10th, 2014
Super great capture!:)
October 10th, 2014
@gigiflower Lets not - I'm not a betting man and I've just been told that myself and my manager are going to have an "uncomfortable conversation" at the end of next week. Uh oh.
@scolgs Thanks very much :)
@voiceprintz Thanks very much - everything I own is crossed as well...probably explains the way I walk...
@maishanny Thanks very much :)
@bigugly Thanks very much - the water was held like that by sheer will power ;)
@northy Thanks very much indeed - I'm sure it will all work out in the end!
@kwind Thanks very much
@pinkpaintpot Thanks very much - the blue took me by surprise as well!
@ukandie1 Thank you kindly - it will, I'm sure of it. Peace and love will prevail, will will make me even angrier ;)
@cailts Thanks veyr much :)
@maggiemae Thanks very much - this is Lake Ratpiko, about 30km inland from Hawera. And I waited for quite a while for the ripples to settle...
@joemuli Thanks very much :)
October 10th, 2014
I had a teacher once who used to say: " it all works out in the end... If it hasn't worked out, it's not the end!"
October 10th, 2014
@northy That's quite true. An alternative would be "if it hasn't worked out, I haven't shot anybody" ;)
October 10th, 2014
This is very pretty Graeme. Love the reflection. Looks very peaceful there.
October 10th, 2014
@kt8ird Thanks very much - there was no one else for miles, just me, my camera and the over whelming thumping of my music from the car stereo...
October 10th, 2014
@graemestevens Well, doesn't that figure? No wonder everyone left!
October 10th, 2014
@kt8ird So it worked then... ;)
October 10th, 2014
@graemestevens Ha! Good point!!
October 10th, 2014
Beautiful shot and reflection!
October 10th, 2014
@harbie Thanks so much :)
October 10th, 2014
Wonderful reflections... gorgeous clarity, blues and textures in the hills. I don't envy you the corporate world, though. Good luck.
October 10th, 2014
@rosiekerr Thanks very much - it was ridiculously peaceful and serene, not a soul but me...sigh
October 10th, 2014
@graemestevens As it should be...
October 10th, 2014
This is gorgeous - breathtaking! I wish that was my house.....but no, wait....if it was that might mean I would not be here anymore....
October 10th, 2014
@rosiekerr Damn straight, and they'd better not forget that ;)
@tabarlett Thanks very much - you're quite safe really, I don't like swimming
October 10th, 2014
Beautiful shot...
October 10th, 2014
A lovely peaceful shot, the storms must have blown over for now. Hope things are getting resolved on the work front.
October 10th, 2014
@julzmaioro Thanks very much :)
@888rachel Beautiful day today, the sun is shining, there's no wind, my knives are all sharpened and ready... ;)
October 10th, 2014
Looks very peaceful - exact opposite to your work life no doubt?
October 10th, 2014
Beautiful calm shot, drink it in!
October 10th, 2014
I hope you are talking about mass destruction of possums. Cool reflection
October 10th, 2014
Beautiful shot Graeme
October 10th, 2014
@graemestevens what are you uh ohing about - I doubt you would be perturbed ( love that word too ) by an uncomfortable conversation - I bet your mind is whirling with ammunition to take with you - don't put up with any carp haha or CRAP which is what I was supposed to type - although you don't want carp either unless you have a big pond
October 10th, 2014
great shot, love that lonely house. fav
October 10th, 2014
This is so gorgeous with the one lone house. The color is amazing. Fav.
October 10th, 2014
Hmmm..... Uncomfortable conversations don't sound fun. Hope you find resolution or peace within at the outcome. Now that sounds hippish. Calm photo.
October 10th, 2014
I shall reflect what others have said, great photo nice to see the little red of the house that add gives a nice place for the eye to rest upon.
Lots of the old landscape masters did the same trick Constable was famous for it.
October 10th, 2014
That looks like amazing place!
October 10th, 2014
This is just gorgeous.
October 10th, 2014
A beautiful shot
October 10th, 2014
@ounooi Thank you very much :)
@dide Thank you kindly :)
@susale Thanks very much...it's so peaceful and quiet...
@chippy1402 Thanks very much - I just need some big clouds in there :)
@newbank I'm sure it will work out in the end, and what is meant to be is meant to be...and as always, thank you.
@jess1204 Thank you very much indeed :)
@andrewkru Thanks very much, much appreciated
@annied How did you know I'd have my ammo at the ready? My mind is a whirl and I am like a coiled spring ;)
@kiwiellen Thank you very much :)
@deliad Of course....and thank you :)
@ceilidh Thank you so much, I did drink it in :)
@dibzgreasley It was indeed, on both counts ;)
October 10th, 2014
@graemestevens oh - anyone with a brain and a bit of intuition ( me ) would know that - and the coiled spring - ooooh so tight
October 10th, 2014
Very interesting to see the other side of you - a SOFT side that loves beauty!! What a fabulous place!
October 10th, 2014
Such an amazing and serene capture, those reflections are stunning! I cant blame you for going to extents for a place like this! Now, how much must I pay you to make one of those places available to me? ;)
October 10th, 2014
Sue
This looks way to serine & calm for you Graham :p
October 10th, 2014
The water in this looks deep and cool...great image.
October 10th, 2014
What an amazing scene, stunning!
October 10th, 2014
beautiful shot, not what i expect from you in october , but i love it
October 10th, 2014
Beautifully mirrored!
October 10th, 2014
@overalvandaan Thanks very much :)
@pittcj17 Thanks very much - and watch this space...it's coming...
@roseolivia Thanks very much indeed :)
@tasian I imagine it is, but I refuse to go in so I couldn't possibly say for sure ;) And thanks very much :)
@redpants I know, it's a bit of a worry really....
@lilminimonka Thanks very much - I don't ask for much, just undying loyalty and a soul or two ;)
@lynnilou It is an amazing place but had I known it would show that side of me I never would have taken it ;)
@annied As tight as a tight thing being really tight. Not much of a simile but it will do for now.
October 10th, 2014
@graemestevens not sure it is even a simile - I am laughing as I imagine the ones you really wanted to type were inappropriate - public forum and all haha
October 10th, 2014
I want to move into that house! I'm quote.You'll never even know I am there.What a beautiful scene!
October 10th, 2014
@annied Everything I want to type is inappropriate. I have to think very carefully before I even start.
@mzzhope Thanks very much - I wouldn't mind it either. Fight you for it?
October 10th, 2014
A beautiful landscape? Are you feeling okay?
October 10th, 2014
@graemestevens oh as do I - I check before hitting post comment - quite often I have to backspace and start again hahahahahahaha
October 10th, 2014
I'm actually quite surprised - that is a lovely normal sane picturesque shot. Are you feeling unwell today? I'll even give it a fav
October 10th, 2014
@andy3168 A bit of colour, must have forgotten to take my pills...
@terryliv Thank you very much - I wasn't myself, feeling much better now and returning to the fray!
@annied I know that feeling so well...my backspace button is nearly worn down to a nub.
October 10th, 2014
@graemestevens HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I like the word nub too - must throw that into a conversation or two
October 10th, 2014
@annied I love doing that...pick a word and try to get into a conversation without engineering it. It's one of my favourite ways to pass the time. Sad really ;)
October 10th, 2014
@graemestevens HAHAHAHA oh not sad at all - the sign of an eccentric and intelligent mind - or a complete nutjob - either way it it cool
October 10th, 2014
It is cool - is is is is is - duck!
October 10th, 2014
@annied I'll go with nut job. I'm just not wealthy enough to be eccentric
October 10th, 2014
This is absolutely lovely.
October 10th, 2014
@mamamayerle Thank you very much
October 10th, 2014
@graemestevens yes I get that - and it is nutjob - not nut job HAHAHAHAHAHA and I am sticking with that
oh - I watched Machete Kills last night and his machete could cut a person clean in half - think you should find yourself one of those LOL
October 10th, 2014
I know there's a lot of comments here but Graeme your description of the wonderful color picture is marvelous. I love your colored shot. I'd love you make more.
October 10th, 2014
@daneau Thank you very much - I do prefer B&W but I need to get more colour shots done as well!
@annied I could probably do with a machete like that next week...as for nut job, putting a full stop there before I get side tracked...
October 11th, 2014
@graemestevens hahahahahaha i was going to change it to nut job but couldn't be bothered - and I have been side tracked and distracted all morning
October 11th, 2014
wonderful calm feel to this. looks a wonderful area - id like that house please.
October 11th, 2014
@jaynspain Thanks very much indeed :)
October 11th, 2014
Wot, no corkscrew, bottle-opener and other similar items of survival in the wild??
October 12th, 2014
@golftragic Good lord no, I only need my iron will...and a cafe
October 12th, 2014
This is one amazing image, damnit man, I had to part with another fav.
October 13th, 2014
