Today marks the 100th ANZAC Memorial, marking the day when the Australian and New Zealand Army landed on the Gallipoli Peninsula in 1915.
12,000 died.
You can look a hurricane right in the eye
12,000 people dead or left to die
Follow the leaders, were it an eye for an eye we'd all be blind
So come pull this sheet over my eyes
So I can sleep tonight

@susanalena Thanks very much :) @mothermalarky You're quite right - it should never happen. @maggiemae Thank you - we ha d a good turn out this year in sleepy little New Plymouth - I see you did as well in your neck of the woods. @hermann Thank you very much :) @voiceprintz Thank you very much :)
Well done Greme in Ireland we tended to forget the great war ,in which thousands of our countrymen died . Thankfully peace here means we are more inclusive....
That young men travelled to the other side of the world to defend the cause of humanity is heroic... that so many died an ignominious death and nothing changed is barbaric. @tellefella Indeed. @annied Is it? @jack4john Thanks very much @juliedduncan Thank you kindly - not my usual, but hey, why not @vignouse You're welcome, and yes, barbaric is the perfect word for it @eyeamlisa Thanks very much @tabarlett Thank you kindly - it's a big day here and in Australia @888rachel Very sobering - and probably one of the few days that us Kiwi's and Aussies aren't having a sly dig at each other ;) @rosiekerr And sadly the pointless killing still continues, and thank you
