Ruahine by graemestevens

Ruahine

This is the horrific view of the beginning of the Ruahine Ranges from our friends house, where we have been for the last couple of days.
We said goodbye to our Chilean exchange student on Friday morning - it was all very sad and there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth from the students, so much so that it almost touched my hardened heart and blackened soul. Then I had wine and all was well with the world again.
Great shot

Love this.

Hmmm, there could be a lot of fans of this shot. Sorry you almost had to feel for a moment.

So happy to hear that the wine saved you from the fast approaching unwanted emotion.... :)
Nice shot in b&w - very moody!

@je77rey Thanks very much :)
@epcello Thank you kindly :)
@pandorasecho It came as something of a shock to me to feel the beginning of anything approaching emotion ;)
@alinz Thanks very much - wine has always been my saviour ;)

A very powerful shot1

shot1, what the hell? shot!
May 10th, 2015
@amandal You're quite right, it only took 1 shot ;) For a change.

Rugged and dynamic shot. So glad wine was able to come to the rescue again.

Good for you. I took none. But never stop at just one. Much better than I used to be. In the early days, it would be 50-100 shots a day. Nutter.

I love Ruahine range, I have been tramping there a few times.

Wonderful landscape!!

@photographycrazy Thank you very much :)
@yaorenliu It's a beautiful place - I have a friend who is always in there somewhere - you may have even met him on a few of your tramps!
@amandal Been there, still go there on most days :)
@rosiekerr It's always coming to the rescue...a problem I'm quite prepared to live with ;)

Sp glad you had a great time with your exchange student. Did you give her a gasmask to remember you by? Awesome scenery shot again!
May 10th, 2015
Yeah, really sad view here...glad the wine could provide a buffer.
May 10th, 2015
Great landscape! If your student saw you in your poses and costumes for your pics I wonder what tales she will be telling her parents? Lol!
May 10th, 2015
you really must stop sharing these horrific views - it is thoughtless and disturbing - tut tut
May 10th, 2015
@annied I shall consider myself suitably disciplined ;)
@pamknowler She did see me a couple of times...and I dread to think what she may have said ;)
@taffy Thanks, wine is my constant friend ;)
@888rachel We had a great time, she's a lovely kid and she fitted right in...but there's no way I'll give away a gas mask!

The vino will soothe the soul of even the most savage beast. I have been becalmed myself as reacently as yesterday..was the wine Chilean,?
May 10th, 2015
Simply stunning - especially in B&W
May 10th, 2015
@jack4john It was a lovely little Italian number that we picked up in the afternoon...because we'd already partaken of the Chilean wine ;)
May 10th, 2015
@anthonyt Thank you so much, very much appreciated
May 10th, 2015
@graemestevens You're welcome - wine will always make the world well!
May 10th, 2015
@anthonyt It does at that - it's also one of my favourite food groups ;)
May 10th, 2015
God your poor eyes. What a shocking thing to have to look at. Well captured. Thanks for sharing this monstrosity with us.
May 10th, 2015
Love those wind turbines lurking on the range :)
May 10th, 2015
The only place I like to see wind turbines, well out of the way up a mountain!
Rather a decent view in my humble opinion!
May 10th, 2015
@spanner If I have to live with the horror, so does everyone else.
@hermann There's many more of them but even my wide angle wasn't wide enough.
@happypat Thanks very much and yes, I agree completely - you can get right up underneath a few of these but on this trip we just didn't have the time
May 10th, 2015
IMO, wine - and most potent potables - cures just about anything!
May 11th, 2015
@voiceprintz That it does, which is of course the only reason that I drink it ;)
May 11th, 2015
What a fabulous view - only improved by the elegant wind-turbines in my opinion... and great B&W processing.
May 12th, 2015
@vignouse I have to admit that I'm quite fond of a good wind turbine or two, and thanks very much
