As so often happens

Also, as so often happens, I have no inspiration today so here, have a dead bird that I found in the garden. Bloody cats. If the two greyhounds could be arsed getting off the couch the poor birds might stand a chance.
I can't make out head or tail from this shot! Ha ha! Greyhounds don't chase cats, Graeme - only if they are on a raceway!

death and taxes, my friend... death and taxes...

The rescue society actually tests greyhounds to see how they react to cats, those that chase come with a warning.

Anything with four legs upto and including rabbits is fair game for Chania, but she rarely touches birds, although she does spend a lot of time watching them through the cat-flap.

Dead bird, you are so dead. Hard to make out. Poor thing!

@vignouse Our neighbours has 3 cats, 2 of which have the good sense to use our rooftop as a highway...the remaining one is a scourge to anything feathered.
@pandorasecho Correct, and both of ours were tested as being "not cat friendly" although Lucy was deemed to be "potentially cat trainable". As we do not have cats there was no need and some of Wiz's prey drive seems to have rubbed of on her...it's in their nature, as it is in a cats to hunt like this. All I'm asking is for them to give it a warning.
@northy Yes indeed. Maybe I should try to pay my taxes in dead birds.
@maggiemae Don't you believe it - Greyhounds will indeed chase cats and I've seen my two do it. I've also seen them chase rabbits and small white dogs.

@amandal It's extremely dead, not even worth rescuing the skull :(
December 30th, 2015
That looks.... ...dead!
December 30th, 2015
@bill_fe Very.

My greyhounds were deemed cat safe, and were, our cat though was raised by a black lab and thinks of himself as a dog so had no instinct to run. But my girl, a brindle was very dog friendly too, unless it was another brindle, femal, greyhound. Twice I saw her turn suddenly furious, both times at a different dog, but both looked like her

@pandorasecho I guess the all have their "things"...one of mind is terrified of small black dogs, the other is startled by ducks. Every time.
December 30th, 2015
Oh no... poor bird!
December 30th, 2015
How very sad...these always 'get' me when I find them on Beaver Island, sometimes from hitting one of our windows. The guilt!
December 30th, 2015
@kwind I know, but nature...
@taffy It is sad, but if I have a chance to get even with that cat...

New avatar, new style of photography. Didn't recognize it as yours.
December 30th, 2015
@mastermek Thanks - not that new, just a "no" day...if that makes any sense...
December 30th, 2015
@graemestevens You mean they actually get off the couch??
December 30th, 2015
Maybe if you stopped feeding your dogs and fed the neighborhood cats instead your Greyhounds might feel compelled to chase them.....just a suggestion!
December 30th, 2015
The cats must love a line of their former preys on the porch of the neighbour. Not to mention the neighbour himself.

Great shot.

It's the way of the food chain.
December 30th, 2015
@kategoring It is indeed, not that he was eaten, just played with...but yes...
@tonygig It'll do, thanks
@gazdi There are days when I appreciate it, but I already have a blackbird skull ;)
@panthora There is that...but no, to not feed my dogs may save me money but I'd miss their conversation ;)
@maggiemae Every now and then...probably twice a day actually
December 30th, 2015
Ah, the inevitability of life... Your comments about your greyhounds gave me a laugh.
December 30th, 2015
bloody cats! I have 4 of them (which I love) but I so hate it when they capture our little feathered friends-I cant tell them off though as it is built in to them :-(
December 30th, 2015
@rosiekerr It is at that, and yes, everyone seems to snigger when they see them cast on the couch...
@tracie8266 It is built in and I wouldn't mind in the least if it was for food rather than play...
