Pointy Bottomed Bastards

Today I had the pleasure of prepping a seldom seen part of our house for painting, aptly nicknamed "where the wild things are", and had the deep and lasting pleasure of finding a wasp nest. I would not usually dispose of any insect. Not because I necessarily like them, but because I understand and respect their place in the food chain. Not wasps though. Wasps can go to buggery in a hand basket for all I care, bunch of bastards.
I've been stung and have little sympathy also :)

Anything for a photo like this :-)

@mastermek Thank you sir, much appreciated
@annied Likewise, they're just aggressive little bum holes.
March 14th, 2016
Here here, I am with you in this one I hate those bastards so this is a very welcome sight.
March 14th, 2016
@susale The hard part was getting down the ladder and away once I'd doused the nest with wasp spray!
March 14th, 2016
Very artistic shot of the buggery bastards, I guess they had a useful purpose for you after all :)
March 14th, 2016
Color two days in a row? Are you ok?
March 14th, 2016
psssst these are paper wasps , its the german ones you are supposed to kill....you can come and do mine i n, they are all over the pussy willow trees at the moment, I dont know where the nest is though to douse it and such....

Paper wasps are a threat to natural ecosystems because they prey on invertebrates, predominantly caterpillars, and also collect nectar in late summer/autumn. Densities of more than 200 nests and 6300 wasps per ha have been recorded in the far north of the North Island.” I stand corrected, its ok to kill the bastards...
March 14th, 2016
yep...they're buggered alright...no sympathy for these guys...
March 14th, 2016
This shot brought to mind that phrase from Corinthians " Oh death, where is thy sting?" Not really applicable to this shot but hey, I can't help where my mind goes.
March 14th, 2016
Having been attacked while minding my own business I fully appreciate this shot.
March 14th, 2016
Haha I relate to this completely, all of it - I ensure the spiders and bees are sent back outside unscathed, but wasps and centipedes are not so lucky... Great shot - and love the nickname for that room you all seldom see - as well as that tag :) :)
March 14th, 2016
totally agree!
March 14th, 2016
Excellent
March 14th, 2016
I was also stung several times as a child - all while minding my own business - and can't stand wasps. I used to scream round the garden trying to get away while my own kids would sit calmly and say 'They won't hurt you if you sit still' - which of course is deluded. I particularly enjoy murdering queen wasps when I find them in the house in the spring. Otherwise I rescue bees, spiders etc and am a reasonably gentle soul - though possibly the same can't be said of you ;) It's a great capture anyway
March 14th, 2016
A clever battle scene.
March 14th, 2016
I don't know they stand up for them selves, and die for the privilege...then again f*&^% em...
March 14th, 2016
First... love the title! Second, great focus and dof. Wonderful colours too.
March 14th, 2016
@kwind Thank you very much :)
@jack4john They are the barbarians of the insect world
@taffy Thank you very much :)
@pistache Thanks very much - they're just savages, pure and simple
@cocobella Thank you very much :)
@pinkpaintpot Excellent ;)
@kerosene Thank you kindly, these guys are just bastards.
@lynbonn Thanks very much - and likewise, they just go for you no matter what
@gardencat I can't help where mine goes either...but thank you ;)
@maree_sanderson None whatsoever - they're just pricks ;)
@kali66 Excellent - to be honest though, it wouldn't matter to me what kind they were. Having been senselessly attacked so many times for minding my own business...
@dianen I think I'm coming down with something...
@juleshoogstraanderson It would be about the only point...
March 14th, 2016
Lee
You must just have the knack....for finding dead things that is.
March 14th, 2016
@jack4john As far as I understand it, they don't die, John. That's bees. Wasps just go merrily on their way and find someone else to sting ;)
March 14th, 2016
@pistache the miserable bastards, and me defending them..
March 14th, 2016
Well that's four less. Is that the best you can do?
March 14th, 2016
Wasps are jerks. They posed so nice for you though, their lifeless bodies under your complete control.
March 14th, 2016
Nicely arranged bodies :)
March 14th, 2016
what's with all the dead things?
March 14th, 2016
Buzzzzz. Cool.
March 14th, 2016
Nice shot, I don't like them either, they are real bullies in the insect world. They kill bees, my favourite!! Hope the painting goes well!
March 14th, 2016
Cool shot, not fond of these guys!
March 14th, 2016
@radiogirl Thanks very much :)
@dianeburns Thanks very much - so far so good!
@kategoring Thank you very much :)
@northy Everywhere I go...
@hermann Not really, I just dumped them into the lightbox...
@dyanstevens I wish I had that power... ;)
@shepherdmanswife There were many more but I haven't been back on to the roof yet...
@pistache @jack4john A wasp can sting you as many times as they like...bastards (not you, the wasps)
@gamelee You'd be surprised by how many things drop dead around me...insects, door to door salespeople, hopes, dreams...
March 15th, 2016
There things in this world that I put on karma on the line for and wasps are on that list. Like to see um as formerly alive!
March 15th, 2016
@joysabin You and me both!
March 15th, 2016
As much as I photograph insects, I totally agree. Wasps are nasty. I hope you wore your gas mask...
March 15th, 2016
cool capture, excellent narrative
March 15th, 2016
@bill_fe Thank you very much :)
@888rachel Good lord no, I like to inhale ;)
March 15th, 2016
I'll second that motion! The only good wasp is a dead one. Love the dof in this shot.
March 15th, 2016
@golftragic Thank you very much. I may have found a new all consuming hobby...
March 15th, 2016
@graemestevens More strength to your arm, spray, flame or whatever.
March 15th, 2016
Excellent photo! And, my favorite way to see the evil little critters.
March 15th, 2016
I should invite you here to find the nest for me.
March 15th, 2016
@yaorenliu One is enough for me, thanks anyway!
@noko411 Thank you and I couldn't agree more!
March 15th, 2016
I nuked a small nest with fly spray
March 18th, 2016
@brigette I thought of that but decided I should probably use the proper stuff...not sure why, could have saved money
March 18th, 2016
At this point Im not sure which I like more the photo or the caption. LOL I love your expletive stories.
April 7th, 2016
@sarraphoto Thank you very much, I try to use expletives on a daily basis...very liberating ;)
