The Dude

I do not envy surfers. There are things in there that want to eat people for lunch. It's also winter so I can only imagine that their "comestibles" must run and hide at the mere mention of slipping in to a wetsuit.
You may, for today anyway, breath a sigh of relief as I take a day off from self portraits. I shall return.
Huh. So weird because I watched The Big Lebowski the other night. ...I like the shimmery on the water!

@tabbycat That is such an excellent movie. And thank you.

I am jealous of their balance as I can fall of a chair after I've been sitting there for 5 minutes, I'm that graceful. The water looks beautiful in this shot.

It's never too cold for surfing if you're a surfer. I am not

Fabulous shot... But (shudder) I was just reading about the shark attacks in Australia...

Watching surfers here on Christmas Day my Dad told one of them, "one of us is crazy, because I'd never get in that water." The surfer grinned and said, "you're not the crazy one."

@pandorasecho I agree with the surfer - personally, I have trouble staying afloat in the shower.
@northy That's exactly my point...lunch
@brigette I also am not and have no intention of ever becoming one. Only by accident anyway, so the odds are low.
@spikez I can fall off a chair after 5 wines ;)

wow, brave the cold.

Great image of this brave soul.

@yaorenliu Not for me I'm afraid
@dide Thank you very much :)

the shadow - that is cool
they don't want to eat you - you taste yukky - they can't help if a nibble to confirm that causes severe injuries
June 6th, 2016
@annied I taste foul. Although we did have chicken for tea, so technically I taste fowl.

Lee
Love the lighting and of course the captured action. Good shot.
June 6th, 2016
Lovely lighting on the waves and yes, be aware of those bitey things in the deep depths :)
June 6th, 2016
Someone within me is thinking you were after the remnants of above mentioned lunch/tasting.
June 6th, 2016
Very nice. I like the arc of the wave across the frame, the almost (but not quite) silhouette of the surfer... But not B&W? shudder....
June 6th, 2016
does this mean that for your next selfie you will be slipping into some tight rubber?
June 6th, 2016
@pasttheirprime Somewhat disturbingly, it wouldn't be the first time
@lsquared It came as a shock to me as well...who knew my camera could do colour?
@gazdi Yep...that's a given... ;)
@hermann Thanks very much - I even worry in the shower
@gamelee Thanks very much :)

Nice Shot! Graeme if want a little "hang ten" inspiration...If you have not met him yet, I recommend checking out the amazing snaps of the venerable marcus64 @365projectmarcus

@tracyleaoh Thanks very much - and I'll have a look
June 6th, 2016
superb action shot, Mr. S.
June 6th, 2016
Fabulous action shot with gorgeous light.

Not a sport for me. I get uncomfortable around liquid that come in anything bigger than a pint. :)
June 6th, 2016
@swillinbillyflynn You and me both :)
@kwind Thank you very much :)
@bill_fe Thank you very much :)
June 6th, 2016
Nicely captured. It does look graceful though :)

@btwebb thanks very much :)

This took me back to winter days surfing the south side of the Huntington Beach pier in California. Thanks for the memory. BTW, and only because you so rarely shoot color, did you consider correcting the chromatic aberration?
June 7th, 2016
Sure there's not a surfer inside you just waiting to come out?
June 7th, 2016
@yrhenwr Absolutely positive - no one needs to see me in a wet suit. Not even a shark.
@fotoblah Thanks and no, I didn't...probably because I so rarely shoot colour and tend to shy away from it. I will look at that - thanks again.
