heffalumps

These fine examples of basket ware, woven to life sized dimensions, make regular appearances around New Plymouth for various occasions and can currently be found (quite fittingly) at what our noble and (self) righteous council refers to as a "zoo". In reality this small menagerie could be better referred to as a collection of mangy animals more furious at their current surroundings than wild, but it does help to keep ravenous hoards of otters, meerkats and bloody minded monkeys off the streets.
If you've read this far you may as well have a look on the black background.
Wow... they are great. I prefer this variety over the captive ones. They make an excellent shot.

I would imagine they might not be as heavy as a real one! Hope they are tied down strongly with your great westerly winds!

So they are in their offices? Our council moves slower( except when it comes to approving developments and new buildings around here) than those baskets.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I like them. I can think of all sorts of places I'd like to put them. No, NOT there.

@joemuli It is indeed, I think it appeals to all which could explain the lack of vandalism...
@golftragic There's a few councillors I'd like to ram them up but I rather like them as well...and it would be a shame to waste them
@shylaine3304 They are indeed :)
@joysabin Oh our council are like snails as well, in both speed and the amount of slime left behind.
@maggiemae They're weighted in the feet, like some people I know ;)
@kwind The real thing should, to my mind, be left to roam free...but these ones are pretty cool

Haha so this shot made me smile instantly, and then to scroll down to the awesomeness that is the title (especially coming from you), and of course the text... they are very well made, too. Very cool.

Wonderful, and wonderful description too. I too like this zoo better than the conventional type.
