there is no sun where we're from

A tribute to summer.
Very, very, very very minimalist.

The idea is inspired but I confess that, for me, the composition leaves something to be desired... I shall wait to see if I'm in a majority of one!
January 13th, 2017
@vignouse I agree I'm not too keen on the composition i feel like the statement is lost with the detail being so small

When viewed on black the spotlight really pop out. I like the composition, appeals to me - the long, dark days with minimal light and sunlight. Mon to Fri my world is very dark - just like this! Waiting for summer too!.

so cool! always so imaginative
January 13th, 2017
Super on black :)
January 13th, 2017
Wooooah he's shrunk...want a refund...
January 13th, 2017
@cottiac Have you still got your receipt ma'am?
@hermann Thank you very much :)
@shylaine3304 Thank you very much - sometimes it hurts ;)
@wag864 Thanks very much - it's meant to be summer here now but we're still waiting...
@craazyal @vignouse Thank you both - always appreciated :)
@ahleena That was the idea ;)
January 13th, 2017
I think viewing it here - then on black - makes the composition work - the two work together - if that makes sense
January 13th, 2017
Cool and very unique- & I love cool unique stuff:)!

@graemestevens I'd like to add that I don't have a problem with the size of your subject, just its positioning. Whilst the 'rule of thirds' may be very bourgeois, I can't help thinking that if you positioned yourself on the bottom left thirds intersection, this image would come alive, big time.
January 14th, 2017
You sir are a very interesting person! Love it!
January 14th, 2017
Genius as always. Fav

Summer has mostly been a fizzer here so far though Sydney is getting hot weather. Just come home from golf where we needed several layers of clothing and brollies. Did someone mention refunds?
January 14th, 2017
Dark cold summers suck!
January 14th, 2017
Yes but it's just expired dang it!
January 14th, 2017
@vignouse I did toy with not being in the middle but I have a house to paint so this was it...it's meant to be summer but so over the last 3 weeks I've had 4 useable days!!! Today was fine so out the out door I went...although I may revisit this one...
@jak0913 Thank you very much :)
@losthorizon Thank you very much indeed :)
@golftragic I'm not refunding anything - I have a house to paint and no useable weather!!!
@joysabin I'm not so sure...I like bad weather...unless I have to paint the house
@cottiac Oh the humanity!!!
January 14th, 2017
@vignouse My god, you're right...much better I think
January 14th, 2017
I shall get out my small violin.
January 14th, 2017
BTW, I think the re-vamped photo as per @vignouse suggestion works even better than the original. Right on the money, speaking figureatively, of course.

Sam
Oh you have moved positions!
January 14th, 2017
Pretty sure that the main thing about art is that it gets people talking - there will be lovers and there will be haters.

One of my favourite quotes regarding sales comes to mind...

Some will
Some won't
So what
Move on

I can tell when my work doesn't strike the right chord with my followers because they don't comment. I used to feel rueful about that...now I think it's better than negative feedback 😁
January 14th, 2017
@graemestevens Pleasr understand my comment was merely my own oppinion I am a complete amateur photographer in every sense. I think your photos and subjects are really good. This photo for me personally left me wanting more from the image as I wanted to see the detail. there is never one oppinion on art and that's how it should be and yours is art not just a photo.
January 14th, 2017
Happy house painting. Nothing like a peeling weatherboard.
January 14th, 2017
Hahahaha minority rules
January 14th, 2017
Excellent!
January 14th, 2017
@golftragic brollies? I have to google that word. I 💜 365...never know what you're going to learn!
January 14th, 2017
@golftragic hahaha! I am so going to call umbrellas brollies from now on!
January 14th, 2017
@blueberry1222 @golftragic If you're into trivia then umbrellas are also known as gamps from the character Sarah Gamp in the novel Martin Chuzzlewit by Charles Dickens, who always carried an umbrella whatever the weather ;-))
January 14th, 2017
@graemestevens I wasn't expectecting you to change it but I'm happy to see that - for me anyway - the image does now have a stronger dynamic.
January 14th, 2017
@vignouse @graemestevens
Did I miss an earlier version? I actually like the placement in this one as it allows the darkness to dominate which I thought was one of the intents. I was curious about whether the red is a flame or a little animal. But in the end, that probably doesn't matter so much...but I think it's what a few others were getting at in needing more detail. If a flame, that's one story, if an animal, that's another one.
January 14th, 2017
@taffy In an earlier version I was in the middle lower third of the image...it seems to work more as intended this way (and it's a flame)...and thank you
@vignouse Agreed - if it makes a better image (which it does) I'll change something...and thanks for the information about umbrellas. We go to a quiz night every Tuesday at our "local" so you never know...
@paul10 Thank you very much :)
@annied There is that...and when you a minority you can be sneakier about things
@scotthouston I got the worst wall of the house stripped, prepped and undercoated today...and now it's raining (again)
@craazyal Absolutely understood - I have to say that if a suggestions made that will make it a better/stronger image then I'd be a madman (more so) not to take that on board!
@cottiac Absolutely agree but if it makes for a stronger image then I'll take the advice and use it ;)
@gigiflower I just went for a wee stroll...
@golftragic Yes indeed, I think so too...and see that you play a nice tune for me on that violin please ;)
@blueberry1222 I've always called them brollies! :)
January 14th, 2017
@graemestevens ha ha so it would seem
January 14th, 2017
did somebody strip? :-)
January 15th, 2017
@summerfield I did offer to...but, well...
January 15th, 2017
Looks absolutely awesome on black
January 15th, 2017
@susale Thank you very much :)
January 15th, 2017
