the lady of the manor

Another shot from yesterday (yes, I am being lazy), this is Lucy, our other rescued Greyhound.
Lucy is not getting any younger and has recently been diagnosed with a degenerative neurological disorder which will gradually see her decline. There is no time frame for this - it could happen next week or in 6 months however we are already seeing signs of this, from stumbling while walking to sudden "panic attacks" for no reason where her temperature will spike to 42 degrees and moments where there is absolutely no recognition in her eyes (and then, 2 minutes later, she's greeting us like long lost friends). In short, things just aren't working as they should anymore for Lucy and, while we don't have a time frame, it's all about quality...at the moment what Lucy wants, Lucy gets.
So sorry to read this about Lucy Graham! How sad it is for us when our wonderful pets start to age and get ill! I agree it is all about quality and you will know when it's the right time. Thinking of you and your family at such a heartbreaking time!

To answer your question from my post, we do have a rescue greyhound thats 3 years old. Sorry your dog is failing in health. Year and a half ago we lost our Lab of 11 years. Now we have Gi Gi the Greyhound. Good luck with lucy.

Another gorgeous dog. So sad to hear of her health troubles, it's so gut-wrenching on all concerned when beloved pets decline.

Sorry to hear that Lucy is unwell, she looks very happy though
May 7th, 2017
@nicolecampbell She's probably happy because she's just loopy enough to have no idea what's going on!
@golftragic It is gut wrenching...but she'll always be the lady of the manor
@alophoto Thank you very much
@habit Thank you very much
@nanderson She is indeed the lovely Lucy, and thank you
@pamknowler Thanks very much - at the moment she gets all the quality we can give her

Oh, no... Your priorities are completely in order. I am so sorry to learn of this. Like losing a child (at least, that is my POV on it). Hoping that Lucy has her maximum allotment of happy, loving, anxiety-free, days. Bless you, all.

Pretty tough when they get ill and then you have to question what's best for them.
May 7th, 2017
Absolutely, as was our Sheba.
May 7th, 2017
@rosiekerr Thank you and yes, we can only do what can be done and hope for the best
@dide It is - we'll make the decision when the time is right for her

She is a real trooper, they don't complain, they just live in the moment. When our Holly was in the last stages of cancer, she too got all and everything we could give her. Stay strong girl.
May 7th, 2017
So sorry re her diagnosisi
May 7th, 2017
@jgpittenger Us too...on the bright side, no she gets spoiled rotten!
@joysabin They never say a word do they...
May 7th, 2017
They are just so precious. Sorry to hear about her diagnosis but I can believe that she is being pampered and every whim is being addressed. So not nice when a fur kid is unwell.
May 7th, 2017
She looks like a real sweetheart. Wishing you comfort during difficult days.
May 7th, 2017
Its so tough when those we love suffer but a dog seems to take everything as it comes - the love of their owner is more important!
May 7th, 2017
It's really sad to hear about Lucy. So sad to see them decline. I hope she has the best seat on the couch.
May 8th, 2017
@888rachel She always had that...the little minx
@maggiemae You're not wrong
@juliedduncan She is, has been and will continue to be...unless she forgets, which is highly likely
@salza Whims...there's plenty of them going on...
May 8th, 2017
Awww a doggy with dementia. Didn't realise they could get it. Just be kind when she does something wrong as it's not her fault xx
May 8th, 2017
@psychographer Oh she has it, lots of it...still, she gets to make new friends every day!
May 8th, 2017
she is a gorgeous - I am sure you are making her days special
May 9th, 2017
@annied We always have but now we've been forced to step our game up
May 9th, 2017
Ah, bless - she does look a bit 'absent', Been there - done that... know how hard it is.
May 17th, 2017
@vignouse And when she's not absent she thinks she's somewhere else...
