Another shot from yesterday (yes, I am being lazy), this is Lucy, our other rescued Greyhound.
Lucy is not getting any younger and has recently been diagnosed with a degenerative neurological disorder which will gradually see her decline. There is no time frame for this - it could happen next week or in 6 months however we are already seeing signs of this, from stumbling while walking to sudden "panic attacks" for no reason where her temperature will spike to 42 degrees and moments where there is absolutely no recognition in her eyes (and then, 2 minutes later, she's greeting us like long lost friends). In short, things just aren't working as they should anymore for Lucy and, while we don't have a time frame, it's all about quality...at the moment what Lucy wants, Lucy gets.
I am a confirmed and certifiable nutbar with a penchant for skulls, bones, blood, guts, fire and anything slightly peculiar and mostly bizarre. I also...
So sorry to read this about Lucy Graham! How sad it is for us when our wonderful pets start to age and get ill! I agree it is all about quality and you will know when it's the right time. Thinking of you and your family at such a heartbreaking time!
To answer your question from my post, we do have a rescue greyhound thats 3 years old. Sorry your dog is failing in health. Year and a half ago we lost our Lab of 11 years. Now we have Gi Gi the Greyhound. Good luck with lucy.
@nicolecampbell She's probably happy because she's just loopy enough to have no idea what's going on! @golftragic It is gut wrenching...but she'll always be the lady of the manor @alophoto Thank you very much @habit Thank you very much @nanderson She is indeed the lovely Lucy, and thank you @pamknowler Thanks very much - at the moment she gets all the quality we can give her
Oh, no... Your priorities are completely in order. I am so sorry to learn of this. Like losing a child (at least, that is my POV on it). Hoping that Lucy has her maximum allotment of happy, loving, anxiety-free, days. Bless you, all.
@rosiekerr Thank you and yes, we can only do what can be done and hope for the best @dide It is - we'll make the decision when the time is right for her
She is a real trooper, they don't complain, they just live in the moment. When our Holly was in the last stages of cancer, she too got all and everything we could give her. Stay strong girl.
They are just so precious. Sorry to hear about her diagnosis but I can believe that she is being pampered and every whim is being addressed. So not nice when a fur kid is unwell.
@888rachel She always had that...the little minx @maggiemae You're not wrong @juliedduncan She is, has been and will continue to be...unless she forgets, which is highly likely @salza Whims...there's plenty of them going on...
