@grammyn I love how you captured the lady in the red pants as she was walking and singing. The others may have been doing the same but she shows it the most
What a special time to capture a photo of, Katy. I was born and raised Catholic and in Catholic school for 12 years. Your photo brings back that special feeling and that special day that happens once a year. I missed Palm Sunday yesterday for some reason as i have not been to Church in years and maybe because my faith is always there and my son remains sick, Urgent care and the ER yesterday with an infection/virus, hydration, etc. Not a lot of sleep so running on empty. This has become somewhat of a family here and a joy so trying to get caught up, but may go and sit with him and do more tomorrow.
@darsphotos God love you Darlene! You plate is really full. I didn't realize you son was still so ill! I am praying for him today! Thanks for your kind words about my photo. Let me know when you start back to church (because you will))
@nyusha Thanks a lot,Anna. Our tradition is because of the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem the week before he was crucified. The people were said to have waved palms and placed them under his feet as he entered the city. Why do you call it Pussy Willow Sunday?
found in the internet : "russian orthodox & and various other Eastern European peoples carry pussy willows as a replacement for palm branches. The branches will often be preserved throughout the year in the family's icon corner.
That is why, in the Russian Orthodox Church the feast is called Willow Sunday."
i don't know why we are a week later, maybe because the churches use different calendars, russian church uses Julian calendar (old-style)
@nyusha I didn't think about the orthodox church being on a different calendar from the western,Church. thanks Anna for the information which I should have looked up for myself I guess!. I appreciate it! I enjoy learning about our different cultures firsthand
!t means so much more!
i don't know why, but we have it a week later, 8 April this year, and we call it Pussy Willow Sunday:)
