The seeds from the crape myrtle provide some food for the birds when our weather is cold and the ground is frozen but for now that is not a necessity.

I can always tell the presence of sun in these photos ... it's hardly worth the bother when that extra bit of lighting isn't there. I end up with a dark silhouette.
