Little Red Riding Hood

i am not sure what kind of bird this is but I have been trying to get a shot of it for a while and finally succeeded today.

Looks like a red-headed finch - did it have a speckled body? Lovely close up.

We call them House Finches over here in GA! And yes, looks to be a male because they are brighter red. Great shot!
