I have never noticed how colorful and patterned this part of the Magnolia is before! The red checked portion on the left looks like ribbon to me but it isn't. That is how it grows!
Wow, what a ton of detail. Love this shot, Katy. I have never seen magnolias at this stage. FAV

@darsphotos I have never paid attention to them before so I had to research a bit but this is after the petals fall off and the seed pod starts to develop. you are so kind to FAv so many of my shots! Thanks very much.

I have been noticing the same thing since there is a big magnolia by our driveway at the lake. They are cool in every stage! The brown stuff above the 'ribbon" is neat too. Like a block of cheese that someone cut slices off. Just brown. Brown cheese?Gross. Hahahahahaha I also noticed that blossoms really only last ONE DAY. Wow. They are like dragonflies...brilliant, but short lived.
