Distant Mountains On a Foggy Day

Have you ever heard of trompe l'oeil? Look it up!
I've heard of it. And this must be using it because I am fairly sure that I have not seen those mountains on any of your nearby horizons?

Yes, does this mean the mountains are "painted" in? Love the colors!

Beautiful and soft.

"trick of the eye" love hearing that my 365 friends think the same way and speak the same language! This is a bit like a dream!
March 3rd, 2015
Love the softness
March 3rd, 2015
@marilyn I knew you would figure it out immediately!
March 3rd, 2015
@madamelucy thanks Terry they are not painted in!
March 3rd, 2015
@vstap I really appreciate that thank you so much for the view and the comment!

@maggiemae it doesn't surprise me a bit that you knew exactly what it was Maggiemae! I'm so glad you like the photo too!
March 3rd, 2015
@annied thanks Annie! I think that was probably due to the fog! I wish I could take credit for it though!

@marilyn @madamelucy @vstap @maggiemae @annied there isn't a mountain within 100 miles of me but as I looked across the way I saw these houses in the background and because of the fog they look like mountains to me. I had to take the shot! I miss the mountains!

@marilyn @madamelucy @vstap @maggiemae @annied that was supposed to say there isn't a mountain within 100 miles of me! I did clone out a few roof vents but that is all I did to make it work.

very clever and brilliant processing. but i knew they were houses from the shape as the straight lines gave it away; that said, one has to look real close to figure it out as at first glance they do look like mountains.
March 3rd, 2015
I love the soften pastel look of a foggy day. Beautiful!
March 3rd, 2015
I had to taken a second look to see the roof lines. I always called those "big hat" houses.
March 3rd, 2015
@summerfield in my mountainless world it has to do! I knew the straight lines were a sure giveaway that they were not mountains. However, my mind chose to overlook that! (;
March 3rd, 2015
@swguevin thanks, Sheila! I feel the same way as you do about fog! I'm glad you like the photo!
March 3rd, 2015
@grammyn - we have no mountains around here either. but i've been known to mistake moving trucks for mountains while driving at night!
March 3rd, 2015
They can easily be mistaken for mountains! :) Lovely foggy feel.
March 3rd, 2015
I like it even better knowing what the "mountains" are.
March 4th, 2015
@summerfield Oh that's really bad! When I want to evoke mountains I often use clouds on the horizon fpr snow covered mountains and it works for a moment!

@kwiksilver Now THAT is what a good friend will do for you! ;~} thanks Gillian!

@joemuli Thanks, Joey! It makes for some beautiful possibilities for photos doesn't it?
March 4th, 2015
you must have sent this our way. Outside looked just like this a couple hours ago before it went black...more snow tomorrow
March 5th, 2015
@lesip I think everything we get eventually ends up your way! Get ready for the rain we are getting tonight and the return of the cold weather!
