Bias Binding Tutorial

One of my very creative friends was approached recently in a hobby store, being mistaken for a clerk, and was asked where the bias binding was. She says she doesn't even know what it is so I thought I would show her.......and anyone else that might not know .
So it's not twine with a point of view or prejudice then??!!!

Lovely colourful high key.

So what do you do with it?? Make bows??!!

I wouldn't have known the answer either - nicely captured.

@30pics4jackiesdiamond Lol! I thought of that when I was posting this. it could be prejudiced but probably not. It’s used to finish rough edges in sewing. For example if you make a bib you can put it around the outside edge without hemming the bib

I remember bias tape! I was a very lazy sewer and often left it off, turning the material twice instead. I like bright lighting. Very nice!

A nice realist pic. I have bias and I don't like sewing it :-)

@30pics4jackiesdiamond - i had once a dress made with a square collar the front of which is like this https://www.pinterest.ca/pin/clothing-design-sketches--670754938264216498/ and there was a matching binding in the sleeves and at the hem.

i also had a skirt that i had asked the seamstress to lengthen and she used a thick bias tape, like the pink one or probably even thicker, cutting the hem off and inserting the bias in between.

Gosh it's been a long time since I used that stuff. Nice capture of the different tapes.

Great composition! I know binding or bias tape as well. I have many of these in my sewing bins. Haven't pulled out my sewing machine in years.....

A great educational shot. I will continue the education when I next see her. And there we were thinking that she knew everything ;)

My mom sewed some of my clothes when I was young :) I recognized the material. ( no idea what the name for it was tho)

@jacqbb thanks, Jacqueline I always struggled with it
@shutterbug49 I guess it’s only familiar to people if they sew. Glad you enjoyed it
