One of my very creative friends was approached recently in a hobby store, being mistaken for a clerk, and was asked where the bias binding was. She says she doesn't even know what it is so I thought I would show her.......and anyone else that might not know .
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Lol! I thought of that when I was posting this. it could be prejudiced but probably not. It’s used to finish rough edges in sewing. For example if you make a bib you can put it around the outside edge without hemming the bib
i also had a skirt that i had asked the seamstress to lengthen and she used a thick bias tape, like the pink one or probably even thicker, cutting the hem off and inserting the bias in between.
@linnypinny thanks bunches Lin glad to help you out with that @olivetreeann glad you like the photo and I felt the same way as you about bias binding @corinnec thanks Corinne and I really don’t either @koalagardens I grew up with it so it just never occurred to me that would be people who didn’t know what it was @summerfield I have always struggled with getting a nice even stitch on both sides of the tape @randystreat me too Kathy thank you @monikozi lol! I see what you did there. Thank you @madamelucy thanks for that nice comment Terri. Been a while since I’ve used the binding for anything @marilyn thanks, Sissy. It was a surprise to me that people didn’t know what it was @ludwigsdiana i’m glad you like it Diana and I was as surprised as you are @bkbinthecity so glad you think so @kjarn I don’t know if it’s used much anymore in sewing @wakelys thanks Sue. I know, right? I was very surprised by that @dutchothotmailcom I imagine if you don’t sew yourself and the only experience you had with it was when you were a child you wouldn’t know what it was called @jacqbb thanks, Jacqueline I always struggled with it @shutterbug49 I guess it’s only familiar to people if they sew. Glad you enjoyed it
