WarszeMuzik is a project of chamber concerts in the backyards of old tenements in the former ghetto in Warsaw. These concerts are a tribute for Polish composers of Jewish origin who lives during the interwar period and associated with Warsaw: Władysław Szpilman, Mieczysław Wajnberg, Aleksander Tansman, Tadeusz Kassern, Roman Palester and others.
I have been interested in photography all my life and remember quite well developing my first black and white films myself... My favorite subjects are...
The thought of music being played here brings tears to my eyes- joy after such sorrow- and a wonderful tribute to the resilient spirit of artists and others of Jewish heritage. I am entranced by the figure on the right. She seems to be remembering...a lost family? what could have been? Or is she being transported by the music? Stories abound. If I could fav this more than once, I would!
How truly extraordinary! The emotion captured is almost beyond words. I pray to God that we never loose sight of the the trauma endured and the spirit of resilience so that we never ever repeat such ghastly ugliness.
Such a good idea... I'm just beginning to discover Weinberg. The City of Birmingham Symphony have been show-casing his work recently. So far I've been to concerts with Symphony No 21 (which blew my mind) and others with shorter pieces. Looking forward to symphony no 3 next week.
