Old oak

Our old oak is very beautiful, but we have to help it already. I just met conservationists who put on additional clamps on branches. Among the branches you can find a contractor for these works.
Old oaks are so beautiful - some grow old gracefully after centuries and some need help - just like me!

Very interesting. I've never seen this done in the UK, I think they actually lop the branches that look in danger of falling.

@gardenfolk @peadar This oak is 260 years old and 31m high. Very heavy lower branches are secured with steel supports. For vertical stabilization, counter-branches are tied up with tie wraps and wire ropes.

@haskar It is an amazing tree. I hope it can be preserved. It must be a costly project. Reminds me of a tree I took a photo of and posted that is also huge and old.

I'm not sure I knew that trees were propped up like this. An interesting shot of the procedure.

Goodness that tree is so large which means it truly is OLD! No wonder it needs some help and it's well-deserved too. Good shot!
