Chochoł - this is the Polish name for a straw covering of garden trees and shrubs for winter. Especially important when there is no snow and there are frosts. Now, mats are used more often instead of straw. But they don't have that charm.

What a lot of work, but is pretty and reminds me of when they used to gather the wheat like that to harvest. I have a picture of my grandmother in a field of stoked wheat in the 1950's.
