Warsaw (Poland) Square of the Three Crosses. During the renovation of the street surface, historic pavement and old tram tracks were discovered. I wrote discovered, although all this is visible in the old photos. Now the renovation work has been stopped and there is a debate about what to do. And in the city center there is a big photo attraction and huge traffic jams.
I have been interested in photography all my life and remember quite well developing my first black and white films myself... My favorite subjects are...
Fantastic composition and some magnificent buildings. Great pov , with the tram tracks leading you into the picture ! What a dilemma, as they decide what to do next!- fav
It really is amazing what can be uncovered and discovered on city streets when it's time to upgrade them. This happened in the town I grew up in as well. They uncovered old trolley tracks they thought had been torn up. I don't remember what happened exactly, but I think they tore them out and paved over the old cobblestone. I really like the point of view in this shot.
Troublesome indeed, and there will undoubtedly be lots of differing opinions about what to do. Shame they didn't research the area before digging as they would perhaps have known what they'd find. It's a lovely photo - be sure and let us know the outcome!
Great pov and lead-in lines - and a thought-provoking subject too.
I can understand the debate - these days there's an urge to preserve everything that's old where once the philosophy was "out with the old and in with the new". It's not always easy to strike a balance between the two philosophies and people do tend to be polarised in their views. Let's hope the Powers That Be reach a decision soon.
