Black Headed Gull by helenhall

Black Headed Gull

there is nothing like the approach of midnight and promise of an early start in the morning to gee along the decision making. Not particularly happy with anything photographically today and so I started messing around with a number of options. I liked the pose of this gull but zoomed in way beyond the capabilities of the camera so in the end, I've gone with the intentional grainy look, with the help of the dry brush filter in photoshop.

Suggest viewing on black.
Bravo for your experimentation.

I like your grainy look processing...perfect for your 'on a grey gloomy day in Bedford' tag. There are so many tools in Photoshop I haven't tried yet...so much still to learn. :-)

I love the grainy look, reminds me of a painting and gives the photo some cool texture

Great way to make it work. I like his pose. He looks as though he is giving a speech.

Excellent 'look' for what I think of as a combination of flying rats and brilliant aerialists. The sky fits perfect with my memories of foggy mornings in the beach town where I grew up. Fav.

@fotoblah I have memories too of uninspired colourless skies and seagulls at the beach. We have no coast here, but the flying rats are prolific. They are perhaps just a little more elegant than the rat species.
