Over the weekend I had my sister and her husband to stay. We had a number of acts booked at the mini fringe festival in my town (acts that mostly go on to perform for the summer at the Edinburgh Fringe festival). It was all planned ages in advance with just the right amount of activity, and then my brother tagged along and my son announced he was home for the weekend.
This meant that my birthday was spent in a bit of a whirl, - making sure that we met up with the right people at the right time with the right tickets! As whenever family comes, it is a question of lifts and numerous texts and complex arrangements.
It was so hot in the theatre rooms and outside, that as you can see, all anyone wanted to do was just flop.
At the end of the weekend, when we collapsed exhausted as guests had all gone, we phoned the respective fathers. They wanted to know why they hadn't been invited.
To which I thought, there is a reason why Christmas comes but once a year!
Of course I love to see them all. We rarely get to see my youngest nowadays - but next time I would like a little more of him to myself.
The swirl, by the way, is on account that I am thinking circles this week and they did all seem to be flopping, flaked out, in a circle.
Love this image & your narrative really made me smile
