I need to get a grip and take some proper photos. It is the hardest time of year when lighting is so dull outside and in and time is so limited. But, reduced to a food shot on my phone again, I am - it is all I have to offer.
Thank you for your helpful comments re the dairy free trial. Today, I have turned down chocolates and chocolate cake. I have had the blandest of courgette risottos, being caught out by the dairy infected vegetable boullion that I was going to use in the stock, and obviously having to omit the parmesan.
@fbailey I say keep at the landscapes, they are far more interesting than looking at my lunch! I long for the opportunity to practice landscapes, but my day to day life does not present this.
@jyokota Thank you for your encouragement. Once I know whether I have to maintain the diet, I may take up your offer on recipes. For now, it is a good idea that I use the opportunity to shed those Christmas pounds.
Welcome to my world Helen! Sometimes I stand in a pantry full of food and think 'there's nothing to eat!' If I can't have the sugar (diabetes) can I have the cheese (CVD) ? No neither! How about peanut butter ? At least its not so much saturated fat, I usually go for the cheese because I've only got the one life! Logic and rationalisation, eh? Is that mackerel? Got to be a good bet if you fancy strong flavours. But the situations in which you can fancy it are limited, aren't they? I might just put the kettle on and sit down at the laptop to see if i can make this pic work in b&w!
It does look an interesting lunch. I find red tricky to capture accurately but this tomato looks like I could just reach in and touch it (and then eat it).
what's with the dieting? the secret of the effective diet is to eat less of the bad stuff (like salt) and have more protein and fibre. unless of course you have some problem with having lots of protein. if you hold off on things you like it's not good for the mind then in the end you're more apt to binge. so have the parmesan, little bit of it if you will. i learned these things over the years.
okay, I'm one to talk, there's a big jar of chocolate on my desk at the office and plenty more at home, along with ice cream and...okay, gotta stop now because I'm helping after that little advice. :-)
At least it's a pretty tomato. It's tough to give up some things- but hang in there. In about a week you won't crave them so much. And if it is the source of some of your aches and pains, when they start to subside, it becomes worth it. I had to reduce/eliminate tomatoes and other nightshades due to arthritis. I've also lowered sugar- the sweets were not so hard, but the pasta? Yikes! That was tough. We've gone from having 4-5 carb based meals per week to one. But once the joint pain lessened it has become really easy to stick to it! Nice shot.
I can sympathise as I'm lactose and gluten intolerant but still have cheese and yoghurt so I would find it hard to go without dairy completely. Still a great pic.
In a month's time you will have found alternatives.
