I'm not sure why it is that poppies are so readily found at the edge of wheat fields. After my disastrous attempt to photograph one last week whilst out walking, I thought I had better have another go on today's walk. I'm still familiarising myself with the compact camera once more after a year or so of not using it. It is amazing how much that was once second nature (or seemed so) can be forgotten in a year.
So with the heatwave here causing a red weather warning, it seemed like a bad idea to our next leg of the Greensand Ridge walk in the heat of the day. So, we got up soon after 4am and were walking by 5.30 this morning. By 8.30, it was already too hot to be comfortable but thank fully we had most of the hard work behind us by then.
The early start has made us tired and so it is off to bed for me.
