Opening The Lock Gates

On Saturday, Mum and Dad came to spend the day with us on the boat. It couldn't have been a more perfect day; pottering along the rivers and canals on the narrowboat, walking through the beautiful countryside along the towpaths, enjoying the sunshine and stopping for a barbeque lunch. There's also work to do. Someone has to open and close the heavy lock gates and wind up the paddles. The boys enjoy this job, and today they had Gramps to help them too. I've cheated here because this was actually taken on Saturday, but I had so many nice pictures of Saturday, I had to use this one for today - we were still on the boat this morning but had to come home this afternoon ready for school to start again tomorrow.
Helen, you just have the most wonderful family! Your boys look like they have really enjoyed their holiday!

This is something I'd love to do one day. Always seem to be stumbling on novels which include locks and boats. Lovely!
