Ink Blot Antlers by helenmoss

Ink Blot Antlers

After a haircut this morning I called into the Zoology Museum in Cambridge to see the Wildlife Photographer Of The Year exhibition. I was overwhelmed by the stunning photographs. Understandably they were not allowing people to take photos of the photos, so I contented myself with taking pictures of more permanent residents of the museum; animal skeletons and fossils; this one - skull and antlers of an extinct Giant Deer - is enormous, and hangs from the white ceiling - those black blobs are light fittings. This picture is in colour, even though it looks like black and white. I thought the pattern of the antlers looked like an ink blot in a Rorshach test!
Interestingly, the original winner of the Wildlife Photographer of The Year was disqualified among suspicions that his amazing photograph of a wolf jumping a gate was actually a captive wolf in an animal park, rather than a wild one.
Oh yeah, I remember reading about that photo of the wolf and then how it was all a set up and the guy was disqualified...

Wow, Helen! When I saw the thumbnail of this picture I was taken back a bit but since it was yours I felt brave enough to look further...lol That is one strange skeleton. That's a sad story about someone having to cheat to win a photographic event. I can see it happening with 'shopping' a picture but to set it up? In this case that was mighty cheesy. Didn't he learn what most mothers teach... cheaters never prosper!

I love your description of the picture. Clean lines and perfect angle. Even the ceiling lights line up in a row to match what look like ribs. Excellent!

Holy moly, thats a huge deer! I had no ideer (!) that these things excisted, nice one! Good colours, I like punchiness.

And *doffs cap* kudos to you and your career! That takes a lot of guts indeed. Many moons ago I used to be a childrens book buyer to supply schools and I knew that kids books were the most competative and hard to get into. Well done you for doing it!!
Me - I havent a clue what to do next. Necessity is the mother of invention huh?! gulp.

Wow, he is enormous!! Shame they're now extinct, there are giant rabbits though, but they don't have antlers.....it does look like an ink blot and is the Rorshach test where you either see a jug or peoples faces, in which case I see fingers, kind of!!
