The boys couldn't be bothered to come for a walk and out for lunch after their sports this morning, so we left them some sandwiches and went by ourselves! A lovely walk in the sunshine near Elsworth, where the footpath crosses a farm that has been involved with the RSPB to increase wild bird populations. The field margins were full of one of the best profusions of wildflowers I've ever seen - including masses these beautiful purple cornflowers. I don't know about the birds, but the bees and the butterflies definitely appreciated them. Something about the all-white body of this butterfly make it look like a butterfly's ghost.
Re: comment--yes, I do put on my brave face when my girls want to go into the butterfly houses at the museums (where I took that photo). But inside, I'm screaming like a little girl!
This scenery looks very colourful--it looks like a great walk, for sure
Ooo, spooky butterfly, looks a bit too much like a moth, which I think far out rate the butterfly in their horribleness, really don't like moths, the way they bash about under lampshades, argh!! Anyway, nice purple cornflowers, didn't know they come in that colour as well!
