Last week I had a call asking if I'd be interested in taking part in a discussion on Radio Four's Woman's Hour - an item on tomboys in fact and fiction. I wast there as 'children's author' as my books feature a girl who is to some extent in the tomboy tradition of George in The Famous Five.
Gulp!
I've spent the last week in a froth of nerves, but clearly not the kind of opportunity you say no to. So I cycled off to the BBC radio studio in Cambridge this morning, was ushered rather unceremoniously into a booth with headphones, microphone and this display and left to get on with it. I think it went okay. I certainly couldn't swear to it as I have no idea what I actually said and I won't listen to it as I'll just be mortified with cringing embarrassment and immediately think of all the things I should have said instead.I took this photo of the display while hanging around waiting to start - it seemed to take a very long time for the hands to creep around until it was my turn.
I am sorry I missed you but will try & catch up online !!! Very exciting though & not surprised you were nervous !! Well done !! Great photo to remind you too !!
Well, first, congratulations for having been given the nod! II would imagine that most of us would have had butterflies as you did, and I've also had that moment when I look back and can't remember a word I said!
And I have the podcast for the day you can face listening to it...
