It seemed like a good idea at the time. Pack the dogs in the car and drive over to St Ives for a walk by the river. An hour later and I'm still sitting in a traffic jam on the A14 (closed for emergency pot hole repairs!). I escaped as soon as I could and we went for a walk in Elsworth instead. The field margins were stuffed full of wildflowers in every shade of purple and mauve - vetch, knapweed, thistle, cranesbill, clover . . .
