I spent the morning being tested, measured and prodded as a volunteer in a big medical study on metabolism at Addenbrookes. It involves wearing a heart monitor and a movement tracker for several days, so all the thrills and spills of my afternoon walking the dogs, hoovering the kitchen, feeding the hens and picking blackberries have been recorded in the name of science.
