My first day in Tokyo. With Mac still busy with his workshop I joined a group cycle tour. It was great fun - cycling in Tokyo was much easier and more relaxing than I expected for a big city, and we got to see lots of small streets and parks as well as some of the temples and shrines and the Imperial Palace. At this large Buddhist temple there was a constant rattling of people shaking numbered sticks in round canisters and picking them out to select their fortune from tiny numbered drawers. I loved these special racks where you could divest yourself of an unfortunate fortune.
