"Not Another Covered Bridge, Mom!" by homeschoolmom

"Not Another Covered Bridge, Mom!"

My kids are quickly getting tired of stopping at every covered bridge we come across! Well, except for today, when my son recognized the sports field by the bridge. "Mom, do you know where we are? We're in Plymouth. I played football on that field down there!" LOL!

Any way, this nice new covered bridge was built in 2001 after the original one was burned down by an arsonist. It costs $3.3 million to build because of new regulations. But, they wanted to preserve history by building another covered bridge. They used to make covered bridges to protect the bridge structure from harsh winters that caused them to decay quicker.

@ceilidh We had wondered the same thing. There are lots of covered bridges in the north, but hardly any in the South.
@digitalrn That's what we keep telling them! LOL!
@swilde @paulam @skippysue @joansmor @sassyinma @lynnilou @taffy @lafish @linnypinny Thanks so much!
@pinkpaintpot This is Plymouth, NH. The Pilgrims landed at Plymouth, MA, which is only about 160 miles south. We want to visit there, too, but I'm afraid we are running out of time.
