The goal of a football coach is two-fold: teaching the sport and molding young men. During my son's game Saturday, the 8U coaches, pulled one of our boys over to the side for a pep talk after he started getting angry at the other team for taking cheap shots. They take the "molding young men" portion seriously. This is especially important for the boys on the team who don't have a strong male role model in their lives. This football club believes in the village approach to coaching. They are always willing to step up and help where needed.
Great story and it points our how sports can be much more than winning and losing. I cherish my days of football (many years ago) and hope in my career in golf I've been able to be a roll model for at lease a few young men.
@lesip Thanks!
