'Anglian' Tower area (2)

165 - This collage shows in more detail the area of York city walls that we looked over in yesterday's shot. We are looking in the opposite direction this time. (This image is best viewed large)

The first frame shows the wall, with the lower, closer section being Roman, and the Medieval wall towering over it. The second frame shows the 'Anglian' tower in its setting. The third frame shows the 'Anglian' tower in close up (sadly it's not possible to get into this building now, following a period of misuse of it). The final frame shows the levels of the defensive bank at various ages of history, with each successive development of the walls being on an increasingly high bank.

Sadly, this area of the walls is missed by many visitors, with the walk along here being a dead-end. Yesterday's shot was taken from behind the fence at the top of the banks in the right hand frame.

is there a way to view photos large on here? I still have not figured out everything with this site.
