217 - Signs of autumn are all around us. We had our first fog of the autumn this morning, and there has been a distinct chill each morning for several days too.
I've always liked the shape of Horse Chestnut leaves, but here we see them looking worn, weary and discoloured, but for the children, the good news is that there are now conkers around, and the autumn ritual of playing conkers can take place!
I love our horse chestnut - and yes the leaves too! I've never played conkers, but have heard of it. The squirrels seem very into it, don't think there are any left...
It's no trouble - conkers were one of the things on my list to get a shot of reflecting autumn. All I need now is some dry weather so I can get on with it!
Thank you Kristin - most of the accessible conkers around here seem to have gone - the local children will have collected many of them for their games! - and I remember doing the same when I was young!!
Funnily enough, my daughter had found this idea on the internet and tried it in her room here!
Thank you Pyrrhula - it was nice to see the blue sky after the grey days in Lancaster!
Thank you Helen - I wanted a shot with that beautiful blue sky in!
Thank you Tony - not sure if I'll get a shot of the conkers - the local kids seem to have stripped the lower branches for their games!
Thank you Brian - I wanted a shot of that beautiful blue sky!
Thank you Junan - I particularly liked that blue sky!
Thank you Roslyn - I really wanted to capture that blue sky!
Thank you Marie, that's what I wanted to achieve!
Hopefully I might still find some when I do a walk further out of the urban area!
