Took a drive today along a dike road to see the river. The houses are weekend homes, probably mainly used in warmer weather. The river is about 12 miles from where we live.
Interesting! Flooding is always scary, but I saw my first raised homes like that around Corpus Christi, TX where a lot of people go for fishing, so they just keep building houses near the water. They’re really fascinating, to me as, as someone who grew up in New England where all the houses had basements!
thankfully we don't get this kind of flooding in toronto, and hopefully we won't ever. but i feel bad for those places that experience this and the devastation they experience. hope you are safe. that river does look formidable and unforgiving. be careful out there. very nice diptych. aces on both shots.

I really don’t think there will be that much damage to homes built on pilings in this area. I saw today that the river is going down.
