Further down the street

Just past my house my street looks quite pretty with the sun.
But with the news about the latest earthquake in Mexico City and hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico I wonder what mother nature is up to - I think we had enough for now :(
Ingrid, I've been off 365 for over a month so I just went back and viewed all your Hurricane Harvey photos. Wow! It's so difficult to imagine such extreme destruction right there in your neighborhood. I'm sure that was a devastating experience for you and everyone in Houston. It's amazing how everything looks relatively normal just past your house in this photo . . . as you say in your narrative . . . very pretty with the sun shining through.

@gaylewood Welcome back to 365 and Texas, Gayle! Thank you for looking through my pictures. What happened here with the water from the reservoirs after Harvey is incredible - for many it was an awful experience, even for people who did not flood like ourselves.
I'm quoting a flooded friend as I really like what she posted on Facebook: "My life might be turned upside down but I have a house and my loved ones. Prayers for Mexico Puerto Rico and surroundings. My heart aches for all of them."

Hi Ingrid, thanks for your comments on my pictures, sorry I haven't checked in with your project for a long while. I love how you captured the sunlight shining through the trees in this shot, they are like rays of hope. Your country has had some terrible weather just recently, the news reports here have been showing the devastation, just so awful to see.

Hi @stephanies - worked backwards through your comments! Thank you so much for commenting. Love your take on the sunlight: "rays of hope".
As my oldest (16) recently said: although our neighborhood has been destroyed (we do not expect people to move back in for at least a couple of month), our neighbors are still quite well off. Everybody has found a place to live (renting apartments, houses or are staying with family), they have food. People living in other place where recent hurricanes hit (Irma & Maria) and the earthquakes in Mexico struck may not be so lucky. I think she is right.
