This little building is a morada, a practice dating back to the Spanish colonial days of New Mexico. They are adjacent, at a distance, to the main residence and the sole purpose is to house candles and statues for times of solitary prayer. What makes this one different in Española, NM, is that it is new.
Thank you so much for your comments about my photo of the little morada (prayer house). It is for private use only, and it is truly being used. I have to admire people who would not only go through the effort to visit this every day but to build it in the first place. Those are true people of prayer.
