The Way to Albuquerque--New Mural Depicts Migration in all its Beautiful Diversity
"On the northernmost corner of the building, a Native woman stands, backed by a traditional Navajo rug pattern, welcoming the other women as they end their journey. "She's the only one facing the other way, toward the women who are coming," Kei Tsuzuki, one of the artists explained, "the idea being that America is a country where we are all immigrants unless we are Native American. We come to this country to make better lives for ourselves . . . We're here trying to make the best of our lives, and we can do that with kindness."

Thanks so much for commenting on my photo of the mural celebrating immigrants. The background story is really interesting. This is a store that sells fabrics from around the world, and the workers are from all around the world too, and they are the ones who painted the mural. Each immigrant depicted is in front of a fabric pattern from their home country.
