That’s the big question, the one the world throws at you every morning. “Here you are, alive. Would you like to make a comment?”
— Mary Oliver
I’m a thinker…a ponderer. So when I came across Mary Oliver’s question a few months back, it stuck with me. I’ve mulled it over again and again and come to the conclusion that I would, indeed, like to make a comment — every second of the day! As St. Augustine said, “A Christian should be an Alleluia from head to foot.” I love that idea.
The “JLB bag” sits smack in the middle of the peninsula these days. Its striking black and white organic pattern unexpectedly paired with polka dots makes me smile; and that’s before I catch sight of the soft pink, silky monogram on the front. This bag’s seen a lot of miles, and it’s about to see more. Fun’s on the way when it comes down off the shelf. When I walked by my bag today, as it prominently sits awaiting a few last-minute items, my heart filled with gratitude — gratitude for happy travels past and for thoughts of happy travels yet to come.
I pressed the shutter button to freeze the lovely moment — the gift of it all — and then offered my comment: “Alleluia!”
Alleluia indeed. I've just started a word of day prayer guide - So far, my meditation words have been goodness and change. I wonder if alleluia will be included. Have a safe and happy trip.
