I only went out to find Gracie, but I did sling my camera over my shoulder. I found my sweet pup bounding upon the pool cover, sending fallen acorns rolling in all directions as the cover bounced beneath her joyous leaps. Gracie loves playing with acorns; and surrounded by dozens coming to life with her every move, her delight was palpable! I laughed out loud even while part of me felt uneasy about her playing on the pool cover. I had to remind myself more than once that the cover's meant to hold the weight of far more than her ten pounds.
I turned my attention to the beautiful day. Beneath a brilliant blue sky with sunshine gloriously bathing the autumn garden, I found the light quite magical. Looking upward through a Japanese maple — the one nearest our treasured old white oak — backlight and shadow made me glad my camera hung within reach. I raised it, peered through the viewfinder and gave glory to the Creator of all things. How could I not?
What if the act of giving glory were shown in some slight way to influence, even maintain, the natural world as we know it?
