I found pretty light in the familyroom today. I loved the way it washed the spines of the books I'm currently reading. I tidied up the stack as I pondered the titles and noted the feel of each in my hands — some hard, soft, rough, smooth. Some tattered in the best of ways.
Faith, France, cooking, photography, mindfulness — subjects near and dear to my heart. Nearby, a similar stack attests to my love of history and architecture. I got to thinking about my book collections — nature, poetry, interior design, art. More than a few favorite classics have homes on my shelves, too. Books make fine friends in my opinion, and one could never have too many friends!
I have photography to thank for my renewed appreciation of my books. Photography keeps me mindful of light like the pretty light I found in the familyroom today — the light that led to the books that led to the camera that led to this image that leads my thoughts to the One True Light — the author of the greatest book ever written. I see it there at the bottom of the stack, all worn and well-beloved.
