Search "neurographic art" on the internet, and a slippery slope leads straight into the proverbial rabbit hole. I find the art form fascinating; and today, I click-click-clicked away several hours learning more.
From what I gather, this art form transforms stressful feelings into a sense of peace. The harsh intersections of lines scribbled for three seconds on a sheet of paper represent a particular stressor; and the rounding of those intersections transforms them (and, hence, the stress) into something more pleasant, more peaceful and calm. There's research behind the claim.
It's true for me. As I "curve out" the intersections, taking the edge off the sharp angles, new neurons are building in my brain, so says the internet. I can't vouch for that, but I can say that I do begin to feel relaxed. I love the process! I could stop right there with the black and white work, happy as a lark. And I might in the future because, truth be told, I find the process of adding color a bit tedious — and stressful — which kind of defeats the purpose.
I stood my latest on a little gold easel and placed it on my desk for now. Happy, happy happy! :)
