The joy of it! Gracie lagged on our walk, captivated by some scent on the pavement. My eyes, as usual, scanned the brushy roadside; and that's where I found it. Between chalky, leafless raspberry canes and brown, skeletal goldenrod stalks, the vibrant color screamed. I nearly did, too! Never before on this wooded hillside have I come across beautyberry. While wondering how on earth it got here, I collected just a little snip to bring home. The excitement of living on this hill never ever ends. Welcome, newcomer!
